Dr. Wilson completed comprehensive orthopedic training at the University of Alabama, Birmingham where he had exposure to surgery of all aspects of the musculoskeletal system. His training included arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, elbow and wrist and open surgery of the spine, hand, foot and ankle, including joint replacement of the shoulder, knee and hip. He also had in depth experience with pediatric orthopedics and management of orthopedic trauma and fractures.
Following his residency, Dr. Wilson moved to Taos, New Mexico to participate in a world class Sports Medicine fellowship program to further expand his skills as a minimally invasive orthopedic sports medicine surgeon. His mentors at the Taos Orthopaedic Institute and Research Foundation exposed him to cutting edge technology and techniques for the management of common and complex orthopedic problems of the shoulder, knee, hip and elbow.
Taos Orthopaedic Institute in conjunction with Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, NM was chosen by “Orthopedics This Week” as one of the Top 25 hospitals in the country for ACL surgery. Their high volumes, excellent outcomes, virtually non-existent complication rate and low cost allowed them to make this prestigious list. Dr. Wilson is thankful to have trained with such experts and now brings those same surgical skills and experience to Alabama.
